By Charlie Beauregard
Chieftain Staff
Every summer, it seems the greater
metro Detroit area is blessed with a hot,
all-star music lineup. This summer is
no different. Whether it’s at the popular DTE Music Theatre in Clarkston, Joe
Louis Arena or Comerica Park in Detroit,
or any concert hall across the area, the
concerts of 2015 will not disappoint.
Here is the Chieftain’s list of the most
notable concerts of the summer. (Note:
Concerts are listed in chronological order, not all concerts are listed, no concerts
are included from before presstime.)
Mumford and Sons, June 16 (DTE)
– Arguably the biggest concert of the
summer.
Lil Wayne, Trey Songz and August
Alsina, June 19 (Joe Louis Arena) – Even
if you don’t like the music, Daniel Godfrey will be there.
Lady Antebellum, Hunter Hayes,
and Sam Hunt, June 19 (DTE) – Sure to

Imagine Dragons, June 23 (The Palace) – American band will rock the Palace.
Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefer
Band, June 25 (West Riverfront Park) –
Jimmy Buffet = summer.
Toby Keith, June 27 (DTE) – Country
icon takes the stage.
Train, The Fray, and Matt Nathanson,
July 1 (DTE) – If you’re looking for a good
cry and a good girl, don’t miss this gem.
Dave Matthews Band, July 7 (DTE) –
It will be no surprise to bump into a few
Rice faces at this one.
Fall Out Boy & Wiz Khalifa, featuring
Hoodie Allen, July 10 (DTE) – Wiz returns
for the second summer in a row. Can he top
last year’s concert?
J. Cole, July 25 (DTE) – One of the biggest concerts of the year, but Godfrey won’t
be there.
Nickelback, Aug. 1 (DTE) – Over the
past year, with Chieftain support, NickContinued on Page 2

It was announced May 12 that Neal
McCaffrey was elected Band President
by the student body.
Kind and hard-working, McCaffrey
embodies the four pillars of Rice. Almost
everyone knows McCaffrey, whether by
name or experience, and he will make an
excellent leader for the
Rice community next
year.
He will be joined
by Vice Presidents
Brendan Sullivan and
Chiebuka Onwuzurike.
It is clear that with
these three at the head
of our student body, we Neal McCaffrey
are in great hands for the coming year.
The Chieftain spent some time picking our new leader’s brain and finding
out what he has planned.
Q: Was it a surprise win for you?
A: Yes, it was. When signing up, I looked
at the list [of candidates] and saw a lot of
