This summer is no different. Whether it’s at the popular DTE Music Theatre in Clarkston, Joe Louis Arena or Comerica Park in Detroit, or any concert hall across the area, the concerts of 2015 will not disappoint. Here is the Chieftain’s list of the most notable concerts of the summer. (Note: Concerts are listed in chronological order, not all concerts are listed, no concerts are included from before presstime.) Mumford and Sons, June 16 (DTE) – Arguably the biggest concert of the summer. Lil Wayne, Trey Songz and August Alsina, June 19 (Joe Louis Arena) – Even if you don’t like the music, Daniel Godfrey will be there. Lady Antebellum, Hunter Hayes, and Sam Hunt, June 19 (DTE) – Sure to B ROTHE R R I C E H I G H S C HO O L C H I E F TA I N be plenty of females at this country show. Imagine Dragons, June 23 (The Palace) – American band will rock the Palace. Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefer Band, June 25 (West Riverfront Park) – Jimmy Buffet = summer. Toby Keith, June 27 (DTE) – Country icon takes the stage. Train, The Fray, and Matt Nathanson, July 1 (DTE) – If you’re looking for a good cry and a good girl, don’t miss this gem. Dave Matthews Band, July 7 (DTE) – It will be no surprise to bump into a few Rice faces at this one. Fall Out Boy & Wiz Khalifa, featuring Hoodie Allen, July 10 (DTE) – Wiz returns for the second summer in a row. Can he top last year’s concert? J. Cole, July 25 (DTE) – One of the biggest concerts of the year, but Godfrey won’t be there. Kind and hard-working, McCaffrey embodies the four pillars of Rice. Almost everyone knows McCaffrey, whether by name or experience, and he will make an excellent leader for the Rice community next year. He will be joined by Vice Presidents Brendan Sullivan and Chiebuka Onwuzurike. It is clear that with these three at the head of our student body, we Neal McCaffrey are in great hands for the coming year. The Chieftain spent some time picking our new leader’s brain and finding out what he has planned. Q: Was it a surprise win for you? A: Yes, it was.
